Get To Know Jesus

How can we know Jesus?

As His creation, we have three sources to get to know Jesus. The first is Jesus. If you pray to Jesus, you will learn the very nature of God. This is due to Jesus being ⅓ of the Trinity. As such He is God. In His Earthly form, He was the best reflection of who God truly is.

"

I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between Him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creation of our genius? Upon force. Jesus Christ founded His empire upon love; and at this hour millions of men would die for Him.

Even those who have renounced Christianity and attack it, in their inmost being still follow the Christian ideal, for hitherto neither their subtlety nor the ardour of their hearts has been able to create a higher ideal of man and of virtue than the ideal given by Christ of old.

Fyodor Dostoyevsky

"

A man who was completely innocent, offered himself as a sacrifice for the good of others, including his enemies, and became the ransom of the world. It was a perfect act.

Jesus was raised from the dead and as such, still lives today. He still embodies who God is and is still the bridge between God and man. When you ask Him for help and guidance, He will respond by sending the Holy Spirit to assist you in life.

Learn who the Holy Spirit is

The second source is the Holy Spirit. Once Jesus sends the Holy Spirit to assist, you will experience a relationship with the creator of the universe. The Holy Spirit guides and directs you through life, through the good times and the bad. He never leaves you or forsakes you.

He is with you as a wonderful counselor. You can bring your problems to the Holy Spirit, and while you may not experience an immediate resolution, you will experience comfort and peace.

He is a wise teacher, opening your eyes to the universal truth of who God is and what He sacrificed for you. He will assist you in applying the truth found within His Word in your life, making the fullness of life available to you.

The third and final source is The Bible. In it you will find a great many things. It is an instruction manual for life and it is a history of the Hebrew nation.

Most importantly, it is a testimony for the autonomy and authority of God, the Sacrifice of his Son, Jesus, and the redemption of His creation through the transformative power of the Holy Spirit.

The previous two texts were about reading the Bible and studying the Bible. These are the very foundations of getting to know Jesus, but it is just the foundation. As we will cover in future messages, there are many more ways to pursue God and how you can have a more full and complete relationship with Him.
